" I am a firm believer that education and mentorship paves your way to success. Throughout my time with HWNT, I have met many incredible women throughout the great state of Texas who have become dear friends and role modes. I encourage all women to join our organization and make a difference in the lives of future Latina Leaders."
Erica Marie Lopez
State Chair
"I joined the Latinas in Progress program to become part of a wonderful and powerful group led by women within my community.
One of my mentors referred me to the program and the HWNT network overall.
The greatest skill I have learned is to be a leader who is proud of their heritage by leaving a legacy behind that speaks "Si se puede!" I enjoy the rebozo brunch the most and the zoom meetings.
My long term goal is to be a leader for the children of tomorrow by improving and advocating for bilingual programs."
Jacqueline Briceño - Fort Worth LIP Class of 2023
"I'm hoping the LIP Program reaches out to me in the future!!! Such an amazing program to be part of with beautiful young ladies with the same mindset as one.
I hope to come back and talk to future LIP students and talk about my struggles and my blessings along with my senior year and highschool year as well.
Coming from an only child and first generation, it has been hard and I want to reassure future LIP students that todo se puede and
I want to serve as a role model to them that I am living proof I got where I am today with hardwork and dedication."
Cecilia Mejia - Fort Worth LIP Class of 2024
"Thank you all for your time and energy into this program. It was the best thing that has happened to me, especially being first-generation. This program is the program I dreamed of when I first started my college process. From the bottom of my heart thank y’all for everything y’all do."

“This program has seriously benefitted me and I could not have been more thankful to have had the opportunity to be here. I would love to get involved in the Latinas in Progress program even after being in the actual process. Giving back to my community is extremely important and I would love to be a part of the volunteer community. Once again, thank you.”
Jacquelline Balderas - Fort Worth LIP Class of 2023

"THE PATH TOWARD COLLEGE IS COMPLEX AND UNIQUE FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL. ARGUABLY, THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR FOR SUCCESS ON THIS JOURNEY IS BUILDING A STRONG NETWORK OF SUPPORT. I FOUND THIS IN MY FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND THE LIP COMMUNITY. THEY SUPPORTED MY DREAMS AND GOALS. I WOULD NOT BE HERE WITHOUT THE INCREDIBLE ENCOURAGEMENT FROM MY MANY LIP MENTORS AND PEERS. MY ADVICE IS TO ASK FOR GUIDANCE WHEN YOU NEED IT AND BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH THOSE AROUND YOU."
